Combined Meeting of Kinetic Theory in Stellarator (KTS) and Coordinated Working Group Meeting (CWGM) 2006
September 19-22, Kyoto

KTS & CWGM 2006 at Kyoto

In the discussion during the last ISW2005 in Madrid we agreed to have a joint meeting (KTS& Coordinated Working Group Meeting for confinement studies in Stellarator) at Kyoto in the latter of September 2006.

Title : Combined Meeting of Kinetic Theory in Stellaratorand Coordinated Working Group Meeting for Confinement Studies in Stellarator

Date: September 19-22

City : Kyoto, Japan Kyot City Information

Location: Clock Tower Centennial Hall, Kyoto Univ.
Access to Kyoto Univ.

Topics of the Workshop of Kinetic Theory in Stellarator are
- The neoclassical theory including a new "neoclassical" predictive transport modeling and the benchmark activities.
- ECRH, ICRH, NBI and alpha-particle heating and deformation of the distribution function
- Other phenomena related to the kinetic theory in stellarators and tokamaks.

The Coordinated Working Group Meeting (CWGM) covers the subjects of the current international collaborations about confinement in stellarators, which have been conducted under the auspices of the IEA Implementing Agreement of Development of Stellarator Concepts.
Topics of the CWGM for confinement studies are
- Progress in the ISCDB (Global and Profile) activities
- Progress in development of transport codes and their integration
- Discussion on the working hypothesis "Neoclassical optimization can suppress turbulent transport ?"
- Other activities related to the confinement studies in stellarators
(This meeting is organized by Prof. H. Yamada (NIFS).)

The two meetings are held in succession: KTS 19-20 and CWGM 21-22.
Registration: Please let me know as soon as possible through email whether
you would like to attend the workshop. There will be no registration fee.
